Original 1.8 20v and 1.8 20v Turbo work well but don't involve the driver. 1.8 20v replaced by old 115 bhp 2.0 litre 8 valver in 1999. 150bhp 1.8T supplemented by Anniversary 180bhp 1.8T with 6-speed box in late 2002 and this suffers variable build quality. The one I tried was nowhere near as good as a two year old SEAT Leon 20VT.

This instantly improves pedal feel and gives far more reassurance to hauling up any Mk1, even with the original 239mm discs. Opt for the 256 x 20mm Mk2 discs and you’ll be perfectly matching the
Mk4 1.8t exhaust manifold question. I dropped my car off to the garage this morning, to have a look at a strange exhaust noise from my 1.8t. Anyway just spoke to the guys, who have told me that they suspect that It could be either an exhaust manifold gasket or a cracked exhaust manifold. He told me that for the gasket it is about 4 hours work
It’s years since the Golf was a daily driver, but it’s no ornament. The 400bhp putting the SQS sequential ‘box and Quaife diff through their paces comes from a Leon Cupra R ‘BAM’ engine, running forged internals and a sizeable IHI hybrid turbo. The conversion was a shortcut, but not without some drastic measures.
I’m quite confused. I have a 2003 Jetta 1.8T (engine code, AWP). Unitronic tuned ECU, stage 2. I have polyurethane bushings in the dogbone mount, air intake, 3 inch downpipe, 2.5 inch cat-back and upgraded diverter valve (Forge). Usually stage 2 only requires the 3 inch downpipe. But I would recommend an intake to get the Pshhhh sounds
Depends on your skill level you could do a lot of things. K04 turbo. New intake, intercooler. Or do an audi tt 1.8 intake manifold that puts the throttle body on the driver side, run dual side mount intercoolers like a 2.7t for a bit of a sleeper set up. New pancake pipe going into factory side mount, silicone turbo inlet tubing.
